- Half-hippie, half-blues musician, a beatnik is a commie wannabe with style. They sport goatees, berets, sunglasses, bongos, and striped shirts. They are known to recite poetry in coffee shops a.k.a. "Cafés."
Beatniks are somehow American and Un-American at the same time. Hypocrites.
