[edit] Biography
In 1942, he was born in New York, possessed by the Devil. Because he and his family were Jewish, his parents did not know how to rid him of the demon, so they lived for 17 years of Hell as there son ravaged the streets, doing drugs, stealing valuables, killing people, and screwing anything living or dead. In 1959, at age 17, he was shocked in the electric chair and was freed from the curse. The after affects, however, would remain in him forever. He joined the band, The Velvet Underground, in 1966 and they wrote many songs dealing with Reed's personally life, including "Waiting For The Man" (His experiments with gayness),"Venus in Furs" (He loved to wear bondage), "Heroin" (He used it, along with pot and coke), "Pale Blue Eyes" (He was boning married women and ,possibly, men), and "Sweet Jane" (His desire for some more loving). He left the band in 1972 when they realized that they sucked. It wasn't long after that he wrote "Walk on the Wild Side" and became famous solo, talking of homosexuals, transsexuals, sluts, and "giving head". Many songs followed, including "Perfect Day", "Satellite of Love" and "Finish Line". In 1996, he and the other members of the VU, except Sterling Morrison who died a year earlier, were inducted int the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. During the Ceremony, Reed said "There's such thing as a museum like this? I thought it was all a myth!"
