Some suggestions for feature nomination:

A bit more truthiness about the pre-Valentine's Day debut of the video, please. Maybe also its tranformational impact on MTV and enormous popularity on YouTube (owned by Stephen and Google, after all)?

This one would be better if the Charlene link had more meat and truthiness. How many times does your gut tell you that Charlene has been mentioned on the show?

More Suggestions

It is a song, so perhaps a quick gander at webpages for other songs...(googling "God Bless America")...

Stuff to Spoof

  • who wrote the song
  • patriotic/historical background (evilution of song, precursers, influences, etc)
  • effect on popular culture (like seaRob said)
  • liner notes (why not add something like a "Director's Commendtary like on DVDs?)

Charlene Vs The Song

I like the additions, but I still don't like that the Charlene article is a stub while this one is up for featured status. Stephen talks much more about Charlene than his work with Stephen and the Colberts. So I'm still voting No on featured status, but Kudos to Sea Rob for the additions.

Added the Impact on Pop bits

Blame the song selection on Andrew Sullivan who was listing nominations for best and worst of 80s pop-synth. (He apparently thinks there's a difference.)

On the nomination: I agree that the Charlene main entry needs more meat before this one should be featured. --seaRob 00:05, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
