Talk:Kentucky
From Wikiality
NOTE: The Greatest President Ever called Tommy Reiman of Independence, Kentucky a hero in his 2007 State of the Union Address. Who is Tommy? former gas station pump worker, member of Our Troops, became human shield (because his Humvee wasn't armored?)
I made a couple of additions to the "Famous" list, and changed "Kentucktards" to "Kentuckians" in the list. I get what you're going for, but feel it's truthier and more satirical to subvert the stereotype from within than to push toward condescension (which may or may not be what you're going for -- it feels a bit random right now). But maybe I'm overly sensitive, or maybe I'm just missing some nuances. I did spend the better part of my youth living in Kentucky, and I am, in fact, a retard. :) --thisniss 07:37, 24 December 2006 (UTC)
- Most of the time we just leave the "state" pages alone, allowing people to do with them what they will. If the posts are harmless and could not be considered vandalism, they do not get reverted. So just have fun with them.--WatchTVEatDonutDrinkBeer 18:56, 5 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Suggestions
This page is very close to being featured, but needs some minor adjustments.
- characters are introduced then never mentioned again, which might lead to...
- the page going in a few different directions. First it begins with Eric The Red fighting bears, then Daniel Boone fights the bears, then it disappears from the revenuers, then Limbaugh appears/disappears, then King Aurthur is born there, then someone invents the corvette.
My suggestion is to focus on just a few things and try to link them to each other. To do that, dump the excess characters/directions.
Things I believe should be dumped:
- Rush Limbaugh (unless he has some real connection to Kentucky, he is a distraction and unnecessary to this page)
- King Arthur (same reason)
- General Grant (he is only mentioned once and he's famous, so it's okay if he stays, but if there is a way to get rid of him I would suggest doing so)
Things I believe should stay:
- bears
- Daniel Boone
- Col Sanders
- Hatfield & McCoys (maybe they should have their own page)
- revenuers
- moonshine
- teeth jokes
- corvettes
- Kentucky Today
- Kentucky Landmarks
- Famous Kentucktiards
- A Typical Day in Kentucky
- External Links
These are only suggestions. It may seem like a lot, but it really isn't.--WatchTVEatDonutDrinkBeer 19:38, 13 January 2007 (UTC)
