Talk:Mitch McConnell
From Wikiality
[edit] Gov't Links
WTVEDDB: Thanks for fixing my links here and on Secretary Elaine Chao. Believe it or not, I really do always search and preview to try to get them right, but I managed to screw them up anyway. Hopefully I get some dork cred, tho, for at least know feeling something about who these people are.
My question: Do you want separate pages for the people and the positions, or one page for the person who is in the position? I'm asking because I ended up moving & redirecting Elaine Chao to Secretary Elaine Chao when I noticed the red link on the Executive/Cabinet page - those are specifically attached to people, rather than to a generic title like Secretary of Labor. So I wondered if the same would be true for Congressional Officers, or if you were looking to have some more "definitional" pages there? (I would like to see the wikiality entry for "Minority Whip," at least.) In any case, I didn't know if this page (McConnell) should now be moved to Minority Leader Mitch McConnell or whatever/whereever it falls in the schema that's current. If so, would you mind either moving it or pointing me directly to the red link I need to move it to so I don't mess it up? Then I can make this one a redirect. Thanks!!
- The position should have its own page, if only to describe what the person who holds the office should be doing.
- The person who holds the office, of course, should have their own page. When the person holds the office, it would be nice to have a redirect from "Elaine Chao" to "Secretary Elaine Chao" but when they resign to spend more time with their families (ahem) the redirect stays (because some people may not accept the new "reality" I'm talkin' to you Rummy).
- Redirects are to assist in searching.
- I will have to go through the cabinet links, as they were made before the reorg for sub-directories...thanks for noticing--WatchTVEatDonutDrinkBeer 03:51, 7 January 2007 (UTC)
