Based on Stephen Colbert's family back when he was little and dreamed of voting for liberals but changed his mind after the surgery.
The cartoon is shown on the Stephen Colbert television network once a month and recieves little attention unless it has stephen hawking on an episode because everyone loves Stephen's father. When Stephen's life story was converted to a television show, the writers changed the location of the family to Springfield so as to make sure Stephen Colbert's mother is not bothered. The Springfield depicted in the show actually belongs in several different states, so as to make the country more patriotic as a whole. Some people speculate that the show is actually filmed in only one state, Rhode Island, but this is unlikely since the people of Rhode Island detest cameras and recently passed a camera-shooting-and-beating bylaw. Like most cartoons, The Simpsons is drawn live. Fox hires hundreds of animators a day due to incapacitating hand injuries.
Several Different States
This was an idea put forth by great American barbarian patriot Conan O'Brien. O'Brien is most famous for shedding tears of red, white and blue every night when he cries himself to sleep. It is a well-known fact that O'Brien used to be a writer for The Simpsons and thus, by proxy, Family Guy, which is a tribute show to The Simpsons based on the life of Matt Groening.

Who Created the Simpsons?
Stephen Colber, or "Stevie" as he is sometimes called, is the intrepid treasure-hunter/archaeologist responsible for finding the Ark of the Covenant, the Temple of Doom, and The Holy Grail. During his many well-documented travels, Stevie became involved with the Writers of reality shows so Stephen Decided to ask them to write about him. He used his whip to help them solve a Mayan puzzle cube, and was so entertained by the way they bickered he decided he would use his discoveries to make America a better place. Soon after, he sought out the famous barbarian Conan O'Brien and hired him as a writer as well. Hank Azaria found out about the situation from his master satellite computer and parachuted down from his stealth plane soon after in order to voice key characters. Stephen thinks that the voices are not that great, but hey, the voice guys a liberal.
