The USS Rhode Island (SSBN 740) is an Ohio-class nuclear-powered ballistic submarine (also known as a 'Boomer') and on May 8, 2007 was named The Official Ballistic Submarine of The Colbert Report.

The Rhode Island serves in a deterrent role to counter the Manilow Threat, and also plays a role in the smash hit movie of the era Bears in a Submarine.
