[edit] Long Time No See!

Colbert for President!--WatchTVEatDonutDrinkBeer 19:42, 19 October 2007 (UTC)

Yes... sorry... been busy with other projects. I'll try to ease back in to it if I can. I figured I'd better do some campaign work. --Alethic Logic 16:20, 21 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Welcome Home!

Apparently, the login thing has been giving Wikia some problems. Hopefully it won't bug you again. We've missed you!--thisniss 19:51, 25 May 2007 (UTC)

Well, if it innt one thin is anotha... Good to be back. --Alethic Logic 19:54, 25 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] The Coming Wikipocalypse

The Last Days of the Countdown To The Wikipocalypse approach, Alethic Logic, and Wikiality.com hopes you will join us for this Rapturous event. By the Grace of the Holy Trinity (Wikiality, Truthiness, and Our Glorious Stephen), we pray that you won't be Left Behind.--thisniss 13:35, 22 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Hiya

Missed you lately! Your GITMO auction line on "Write A Caption" made my morning! (Oops, it's afternoon now. Geez, that happens every day.)--thisniss 16:25, 9 May 2007 (UTC)

LOL! Thanks. I've been swamped with work lately... It's a good thing, I know... but I just haven't had the time to devote here. I went to a blues club on Monday night and was rolling on 3 hours sleep yesterday (don't tell anyone but I fell asleep last night during TCR - I was THAT tired). Good thing they replay it here the next day. --Alethic Logic 00:21, 10 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Here is a game

Zombies!--WatchTVEatDonutDrinkBeer 03:43, 29 April 2007 (UTC)

Great! Now I'm not only Gay tonight, but a Zombie as well... --Alethic Logic 03:49, 29 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Question

When you click on the "diff" links on Special:Recentchanges, on the right hand side (Current revision) what things do you see that are clickable (above the preview)?--WatchTVEatDonutDrinkBeer 18:20, 28 April 2007 (UTC)

I'm not sure I understand the question. I see the diff. I can click on the normal stuff, the users, etc. Should I be seeing something else. There was an ad for an "Are you Gay" test on the right, and I was able to click on that... (I'm not going to divulge the results). What am I looking for? (funny, that's what the Gay test was also trying to figure out) --Alethic Logic 02:01, 29 April 2007 (UTC)

How about now?--WatchTVEatDonutDrinkBeer 02:03, 29 April 2007 (UTC)
Looks normal to me. I still don't know where I'm looking or what I'm looking for. All I know for sure now is that I'm Gay. --Alethic Logic 02:13, 29 April 2007 (UTC)
Well, that explains why you can't see it...why not click on Special:Recentchanges, click on one of the "diff" links to the left and tell me if you see something new now...--WatchTVEatDonutDrinkBeer 02:16, 29 April 2007 (UTC)

OK, I'm seeing a "Next Diff ->" and "<-Previous Diff" selection. Hey, that's cool! --Alethic Logic 02:19, 29 April 2007 (UTC)

Are you also seeing clickable links there? You should have a new one...--WatchTVEatDonutDrinkBeer 02:22, 29 April 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, like Undo and Edit and Roll Back. I think you're coming up with easier ways to deal with vandalism... yes? If I weren't banned from Wikipedia, I'd wish they had these features there. --Alethic Logic 03:37, 29 April 2007 (UTC)

Yes, you got rollback, I gave you rollback super pwers. Use them wisely, my child...--WatchTVEatDonutDrinkBeer 03:38, 29 April 2007 (UTC)
If only World of Warcraft was this easy... --Alethic Logic 03:39, 29 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] WTF Radio Program, The Western!

I came up with an idea for a "western" show for WTF: a Jesse James serial, ahem...I read a book saw a movie a while ago about the little bastard, and I feel he would fit in with WTF's overall "milieu".--WatchTVEatDonutDrinkBeer 19:42, 27 April 2007 (UTC)

Setting aside my concerns about you reading a book, Jesse James would be fine with me. --Alethic Logic 03:22, 28 April 2007 (UTC)
OK, that's better... --Alethic Logic 03:31, 28 April 2007 (UTC)
What's better? If you can go over and take a look, add what you feel is appropriate.--WatchTVEatDonutDrinkBeer 03:36, 28 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Please Check Out

Today, We Are All Hokies. be sure to tell your friends.--WatchTVEatDonutDrinkBeer 04:31, 18 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] WTF!

I love it, great joke, great set up! Bully!--WatchTVEatDonutDrinkBeer 04:03, 16 April 2007 (UTC)

OK, Thanks! It seemed a natural for the page - and Thisniss asked for more WTF programs... so there's one... --Alethic Logic 04:08, 16 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Hungaria

No problem, and thanks for the help! I had never quite decided whether it was better to go for the consistency of "Hungaria" or the consistent inconsistency of ary/aria. I believe you made the piece much truthier by helping me make this choice. :) The goulashes joke is good, too! I took out the vodka conversion (litre/liter) altogether after painfully recalling that the standard unit of measure was "one bottle" a day.

Let me know if you have other suggestions for improvements. I'd like to get this up while it is still current (again). --thisniss 22:16, 14 April 2007 (UTC)

Eva Gabor - great addition. I had opted to combine them into one person because I couldn't think of what made them each separately memorable. I had totally forgotten about "the other one" slapping that cop, as it was a bit before my time (and before "Hungaria" was really on my mental map- that happened a few years later). Too funny. --thisniss 15:26, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
I decided to make them "correct" (so less confusing, and more about the pig/pig joke), and going back in reminded me that I had wanted to add another "Gabor" - Gabor Csupo, the animator (Simpsons, creator of Rugrats). So I just wanted to thank you again for triggering my memory! lol --thisniss 15:44, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
Hmmm I wonder if it would read better - last name first - Csupo, Gabor - that way it goes along better with the gag... just thinking out loud... --Alethic Logic 18:14, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
The funny thing is that the real Hungarian convention is to lead with family names, so they would be Gabor Zsa Zsa; Gabor Eva; and Csupo Gabor. lol But it's okay to leave them as is, because we are all Americans at this wiki. If people are going to notice the "Gabor" repetition, the name order shouldn't really matter - the "rule of threes" sets us up to expect a punchline, right? Plus, I like to pretend that I'm not a hack by hiding little jokes inside my hackery. I write things like footnotes, subtle puns, the Pulitzer-worthy turns of phrase for which I'm so well known, etc., with the expectation that most people aren't going to notice - if they even take the time to read them all. If they do, it's like "icing." They get extra jokes, because they are clearly the best people. If not, meh. The important stuff is broadly drawn. ;) --thisniss 20:14, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
Yes, I agree... I appreciate that you always seek to raise the bar. I bow to your wisdom - and hopefully won't be one of the ones around here that doesn't get what you're doing and edits out the good stuff by mistake. Somebody took out my Phoenix Quayle as the California state bird. I'm not sure they got what I was doing... but alas... --Alethic Logic 00:51, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
Well, that's the joy and pain of wiki, I suppose. I love the fact that you and OHeL and others have jumped in and made this place so much more collaborative - and funnier, and smarter, and an all-around better site. We're all "raising the bar," I hope. It's inevitable that there will be disagreements about what's "best" in any situation, but as long as we communicate, we'll figure it out. That's what makes us superior to the repuglicrats Secular Progressives. I'm sure been quite dense and not "getting it" about the WTF, so you know... no one's perfect. ;) --thisniss 01:19, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
Well, I totally get your point about the WTF... It's just that I don't know who our readers are... I expect some of them are sitting around asking "When are they going to hit someone with a pie?" Hopefully, I'm wrong and everyone "gets it" much better than I do. --Alethic Logic 01:37, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
mmmm... pie. --thisniss 01:54, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
<snicker>... --Alethic Logic 14:42, 17 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Hillary Clinton

I feel a "Beverly Hillbillies" remake coming...--WatchTVEatDonutDrinkBeer 01:02, 14 April 2007 (UTC)

I'd go with that...--Alethic Logic 01:55, 14 April 2007 (UTC)
How about...

Come and listen to my story 'bout a man named Jeb, Dad and his brother put the White House in his head... Then one day while disenfranchising some jews, up through the ground come a bubblin' crude... Clintons that is... Liberals, Texas teabaggers.

So the next thing ya know, ole' Jeb's nowhere, Bill came and went and now Hillary wants her share. Said, "The White House is the place I want to be - 'cause it's the best place for my future treachery"... Tax and spend, that is... cut and run too.

Works for me...--Alethic Logic 02:06, 14 April 2007 (UTC)

Hmm...but now it sounds like the Bush family, not the Clintons...--WatchTVEatDonutDrinkBeer 02:07, 14 April 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, I know you're right... OK but I soooo wanted to use Jeb's name in the song. I'm trying too hard. But I'm thinking the Beverly Hillbillies set-up doesn't work for the Clintons. We need something where there's a matriarch character maybe... I'm brainstorming here. How about South Ark. Hillary could be the mayor... and Bill would have to be Chef, of course. I suppose Timmy would have to be played by Chelsea. Is Hillary using Carvel for her campaign... because I see him as Mr. Garrison. Actually, it could be the other way around... the cast of South Park could be performing South Ark. It could get very twisted... --Alethic Logic 02:56, 14 April 2007 (UTC)

What about a parody of "I Love Lucy", where Hillary is Lucy and she is always trying to "be in her husband's show"? Bill Clinton would obviously be Ricky (Billy?) and Al and Tipper Gore can be Fred and Ethel until a better couple can be elected...or...Bob and Elizabeth Dole...or...?--WatchTVEatDonutDrinkBeer 03:01, 14 April 2007 (UTC)

Well, we've definitely got some good Lucy-esque pictures of Hillary. I'm liking it. And there's certainly sure to be a lot of "episodes" surfacing between now and Nov 2008. Bill could play the sax, of course. Instead of always having to meet with guest celebrities, he would be out meeting with an assortment of raunchy women... and Hillary could keep barging in to surprise him.

Or, how about the futuristic adventures of Barbarianella? --Alethic Logic 03:25, 14 April 2007 (UTC)

Dunno, not sure if Barbarella is as easily recognizable as Lucy.--WatchTVEatDonutDrinkBeer 03:28, 14 April 2007 (UTC)

OK, I think I've got this one nailed... [1] "Clinton hears a Who"... An incredible Dr. Seuss poem about the little people trying to be heard. I really think we could have fun with this and do some incredible stuff with the rhymes - while sticking to the theme of the little people who go unnoticed by, dare I say it... Clinton. And I don't think we've done anything like this before... Whaddaya think? --Alethic Logic 03:38, 14 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] User Page

I am going to try to format your page, because some of the pics are covering others. If you don't like it, you can revert it.--WatchTVEatDonutDrinkBeer 03:04, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, I was having the disappearing picture problem when I put them all in the gallery - so I took out the ones that weren't showing up (and they're my favorites anyway). Now, in my Firefox version, they're not covering each other at all... so I'll be interested in seeing what you change. --Alethic Logic 03:07, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

Yep - I can't see any of the three. Can you? --Alethic Logic 03:08, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

OK, I've reverted them back - and logged in using IE - and the page looks OK. I dunno... --Alethic Logic 03:12, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] For Your Outstanding Continuous Work

You have achieved the level of Truthiness Monkey, congratulations.--WatchTVEatDonutDrinkBeer 02:02, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

Wow, thanks... <snif> this sort of thing <snif> never happens to me... <snif>... You guys!!! --Alethic Logic 02:06, 13 April 2007 (UTC)
One rule though: no poo flinging! --MC Esteban™ 03:24, 13 April 2007 (UTC)
Can't promise that - but I promise to be selective. --Alethic Logic 15:44, 13 April 2007 (UTC)
Aw, fling away! Congratulations!!! Couldn't have happened to a worthier simian. --thisniss 02:46, 14 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Archiving

I moved everything. There may be parts of conversations that you want to move back. You already had a link to your archive (above), but I made it more prominent. You can move it around wherever you want it. Also, you don't have to keep the "hello" message on this page or anything - unless you just want to keep those links on here, if you find them useful. But I didn't take it off b/c I didn't know. To do this next time, you just create the page like any other (you can also just go to your archive page, copy the one above, change the data, preview to get a red link, click, etc. - that what I do cuz I'ma too laz-e to cheek my speeling tha first time aroun). I'm actually kinda brain dead today, so let me know if I screwed up (a distinct possibility). --thisniss 20:22, 6 April 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for doing this for me. Wow, my page is so nice and clean now. :) --Alethic Logic 20:51, 6 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Vietnam

Uh-oh...we have a Viet Nam and a Vietnam! What do you want to do with your edits?!--WatchTVEatDonutDrinkBeer 21:46, 6 April 2007 (UTC)

Oh, my mistake... I should have tried the one-word version... I even tried Nam to see if I could get a redirect - let's delete the new one and I'll change the reference on the "Left Behind" page. I don't know how to delete it though... can I just remove everything? --Alethic Logic 21:49, 6 April 2007 (UTC)

No need to delete, we can just redirect it to the old one, make sure you copy/paste your stuff to the one-word version before redirecting 2-word to 1-word...--WatchTVEatDonutDrinkBeer 21:51, 6 April 2007 (UTC)
OK, I think we're OK to delete redirect the two-word version. The Vietnam page is pretty blank... I'll see if I can put a little effort into it and the Vietnam War page sometime this week. --Alethic Logic 21:56, 6 April 2007 (UTC)
Okay, we can use it to redirect...if you tried to find it using 2 words, someone else may. Now, if someone comes on, when they type in the 2-word version, they will be redirected to the 1-word version--WatchTVEatDonutDrinkBeer 21:59, 6 April 2007 (UTC)
Well, I tried the redirect but it didn't seem to work... I'm doing something dumb again I'm sure...
Redirect worked fine, sometimes the wiki is s-l-o-o-o-w...--WatchTVEatDonutDrinkBeer 22:22, 6 April 2007 (UTC)

OK coool! Glad it wasn't me screwing up then... Thanks! --Alethic Logic 22:25, 6 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Ronald Reagan

Sometimes new people don't know to go back to the page of origin for a conversation. Try posting on his talk page.--WatchTVEatDonutDrinkBeer 00:10, 10 April 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, I thought about it but I saw you were handling it. And I thought maybe what I said sounded kinda snyde... so better if I stay out of it - ya? --Alethic Logic 00:12, 10 April 2007 (UTC)
No, do not stay out of a conversation, it lets the new people know that there are other people on who can help, and that they are not alone...--WatchTVEatDonutDrinkBeer 00:14, 10 April 2007 (UTC)
OK, OK... I'll go post it on his talk page. Actually, now that you've brought this up - couldn't we make a rule or something - that wherever the conversation is started - that's where the whole conversation should reside. I hate going back and forth between two pages to try to figure out who said what and when - and if you guys are talking about me again... --Alethic Logic 00:16, 10 April 2007 (UTC)
The only rule is: everyone is always talking about you (and when I say you, I mean Alethic Logic...) yes, we can make a rule, but that doesn't mean anyone will follow it. How could we hold people accountable? That kinda thing is too hard to enforce...without the NSA getting involved!--WatchTVEatDonutDrinkBeer 00:18, 10 April 2007 (UTC)
Just kidding by the way about us talking about you...we only watch...heh heh...--WatchTVEatDonutDrinkBeer 00:19, 10 April 2007 (UTC)
Well, it's not as if you would ADMIT to talking about me behind my back. Anyway, I think the main players would probably go along with the suggestion and who cares about everyone else. But what do I know... I'll just suffer through. Personally, I live on My Watchlist and basically only edit articles that are mentioned somewhere in conversations. Hmmm... that reminds me, I wanted to do something with Occam's Razor but I haven't been able to find the graphic that shows the first blade stretching the whisker while the second blade chops it off. Oh well... --Alethic Logic 00:24, 10 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Electron Mail

Would it be possible for you to email me? (thisniss@wikiality.com) I have a proposition for you and don't want to get sued in trouble for sexual harassment untoward behavior on a public talk page. --thisniss 16:50, 17 April 2007 (UTC)

OK, but does this mean we're engaged... I may need to run out and buy a token ring... --Alethic Logic 04:23, 18 April 2007 (UTC)
Gosh, I hope so! I'm sure my partner will approve - been asking to trade me in for two fifteen years olds since the day I passed 30. (and I keep saying that I wouldn't mind being traded in, as long as I get to trade up. So of course we are still together. Dangit.) Anyway, on a less idiotic note, I also wanted to second Watch's request at the top of the page. Thanks! --thisniss 05:25, 18 April 2007 (UTC)
OK, thanks. Two 15 year olds... your partner sounds like a creep... At least wait until you're 40 and trade for two twenties - then it's not so creepy. And I'm sure you still have a few good miles left anyway. Yes, re: Watch's request, I visited the page last night, but the right words fail me (OK, it happens sometimes). Too emotional. I'll have another look today. --Alethic Logic 14:29, 18 April 2007 (UTC)
Oh, we both just have really strange senses of humor. lol It's funny to us because it's creepy - but I'm constantly surprised because what seems outrageous to me is perfectly ... um, rageous? ... to someone in the world. I was also in a completely crazy place last night, way too raw; hence the inappropriate joking. My own personal form of denial, I guess. Words often fail me. Sometimes I talk too much to make up for that. Sorry if I offended! --thisniss 03:12, 19 April 2007 (UTC)

As our glorious Stephen would say - "Apology accepted". I still don't know what we're talking about though... --Alethic Logic 14:21, 19 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Arab article

As long as the edits are funny in a tongue in cheek way, I'm fine with them. I don't mean to be mean-spirited. I'm simply writing it as an O'Rielly fan would, with some embellishment. Cheers.

I left a note on this user's page; just wanted you to know. --thisniss 16:25, 9 May 2007 (UTC)
