Wikiality talk:Complaints

[edit] Wikiality is one massive copyright violation

I can't believe this site hasn't been smacked down with DMCA takedown notices all over. Many of the pages are copied straight from Wikipedia, modified slightly without credit (violating the GDFL) and the main logo violates Wikimedia's copyright on the Wikipedia "globe" logo. Change the logo and at least try to look like you follow the GDFL. 66.38.237.2 02:57, 17 July 2007 (UTC)

Are you a lawyer? Because Wikiality.com is a parody site, and that covers the vast majority of the entries on the site.
Could you be more specific about which of the "many of the pages" are copied "straight" from Wikipedia?--WatchTVEatDonutDrinkBeer 03:03, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
Fine, some of it will fall under fair use, but many pages are deriviatives of Wikipedia pages, without appropriate attribution. For example, What Wikiality.com Is Not is clearly lifted from Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not, with a few changes for context. The logo, though, is pretty nastily wrong, I'm reasonably sure fair use doesn't cover it. 66.38.237.2 03:11, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
Wikiality doesn't claim "fair use"; this is a parody site. And Wikipedia cannot copyright an idea (the "What ___ Is/Is Not" is an idea).
Again, I must have missed your answer: are you a lawyer?--WatchTVEatDonutDrinkBeer 03:19, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
Wikipedia isn't copyrighting anything relating to the idea, its users, by default, are, and the content which has been copied violates their copyright as licensed under the GDFL. If you just put "This article was created using content from (insert Wikipedia page here)" et cetera, you'd be giving credit and this wouldn't be an issue. The logo... is just tasteless. 66.38.237.25 18:48, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
Please show which pages have been copied. And if you claim is valid, we will change it.--WatchTVEatDonutDrinkBeer 06:18, 18 July 2007 (UTC)
