Miklós Zrínyi

Miklós Zrínyi, aka Nikola Zrinski, aka Nicholas Zrinski, aka Bridge-Stealer, was the leader of Hungary in the 16th century. He defended the country of Hungaria[1] from the invading Mooslims of the Ottomon Empire, and then apparently wrote some poems[1] about it. How gay is that? Can you imagine The Greatest President Ever sitting down today and composing verses about all his glorious victories in Iraq? I don't think so.
Anyway, over 300 years after his death, Stephen Colbert had some poetic words of his own to describe the great Poet-Warrior: "Zrinski is an asshole."[1]
This heartfelt tribute to Zrínyi's legend reflected the sheer audacity that this guy showed in trying to win the Stephen Colbert Bridge-naming contest, even though he had been dead for over 300 years. Through lies, deceit and cheating, Zrinksi eventually won the competition. Even though Our Glorious Stephen had 17,000,000 Votes to Zreensky's piddly 1,000,000, the fancy pants Hungarian poet still cheated Colbert out of the Hungarian bridge.
